Hi there! Could you tell me how you call the faux leather on the top left picture (the one that has a waffle-like texture). I read your comments and I think it's called textured leather..? If I search online is there a word to describe this particular pattern?
Thanks!

hello, that leather I bought online , sadly the store I bought from no longer sells it, as it was clearance when I go it myself, but if you gooled textured or embossed leather or leatherette then you maybe able to find something similar :)

Thanks a lot for all the information! Did that embossed leather thing cost you more than regular faux leather? I found something similar at a local shop but it cost around $25 per meter and I was like... :omg:
Btw I read the comments you answer over and over again, it's awesome that you take the time to answer questions. It's very helpful.

yeah the embossed stuff was more expensive :S yeah it can be so expensive there is textured leather online but the pattern is too big to work with the costume :/ .
oh well thank you I do try even if I am a little late replying sometimes D:

Oh, so it was more expensive for you too? That means I shouldn't worry I'm being taken advantage of, lol! ^^;
We bought LOTS of plain faux leather and we were planning to use that for the whole costume,in and out, then we found out half of it is a different type of leather. :raincloud: I wish we could afford it though because for the Loki fan it will be kinda obvious we didn't use two types of faux leather.
Well at least you do reply, that's what counts. :D I understand people are too busy to always give answers but when they do it's awesome!

yeah it is pricey .
well you can only work up to what your budget is , a lot of people don't bother with using the diff fabric
I havnt noticed many at cons that do, I wasn't till I saw a few hd pics and thought arrrggh! dam!

I try to reply to people at least within 2 days but a lot of the time I fail D:

They don't bother? Well that's good to know! :phew:
After a long research I have seen only you and two other cosplayers (a guy and a girl) who used different fabrics. However their choice was SPOT ON and I envy them so very hard.
I read in your other W.I.P. pics that you used two colours of rectangles, golden and black. Where are the black ones, on his ribs/sides?
Also.. (and sorry to bother you all the time but you're the only expert I know ^^; ) could you give me a hint as to how big (in mm) the rectangles should be and how many? I read that you used 30 packs of them but I still don't know how many approximately you needed as it seems every seller packs them in different numbers.
Here's a couple of shops I found, what do you think?
Black www.ebay.com/itm/290892476233?…
www.ebay.com/itm/310406007883?…
Golden www.ebay.com/itm/121103999522?…
www.ebay.com/itm/120731146162?…

They have different sizes so I don't know what to choose. >__<

howdy, yeah some people have got the correct leather, but as far as I know it has to be hand made, too much hassle for me.

the rectangles I bought in size 3mm x 10 mm , as for how many I cant give an exact amount I just know I ended up buying like 45 bags of them, about 5 of them in the black the rest in gold, but I have a ton left over.

those links seem ok , ive also found this site - www.novarhinestone.com/nailhea…

try if you can and get a matt gold , as it looks more natural than a bright shiny gold.

thanks, yeah sure the materials,i think came up to maybe 300 pounds,it could be more :/ i may have gone overboard buying things :/ i still have alot of leather left and tons of the metal trim ,most of the the cost went on fabric, thread, needles, the rest went to the cost of the wig, scepter parts, amrmor parts

Wow. When one decides to create a Loki cosplay it is no small feat. Plenty of money, time, and effort are put in, I'm sure.
Still, the results look fantastic! Thanks :)

Are you using a specific pattern for the general form of the outfit? I'm getting ready to start Loki's fully armored king variant of the costume from the Avengers, but I don't have a dress form and am not sure where to start to best shape the outfit to my body. Any advice would be appreciated!

well my base pattern i got an old tshirt that i dont wear but still fits me comftably and cut it up for the sizes, but i had to modify the pattern alot, most the time to make sure it fits i either made quick mock ups from spare fabric or i place the pattern on myself,i have a full lenght mirror and i just hold or pin it in the right place and note down if i need to change anything ,i found yesterday i neede to change the arm size since my sleeve was about and inch bigger, but it isnt an issue as it just makes the costume easier to get into.

its the same for me today ive been working on my shirt,im having some issues with it ,the front wasnt as hard as i thought but im having trouble fixing the lower parts of the shirt together at the mo :/,theres lots of pics of how i made my shirt on my tumblr, you may find help on there, for me i used long strips of fabric to make the bits fold over each other ,the 2 long panels right at the bottom,im thinking i may have to use a mix of hand sewing and machince for that :/
